This module we are talking about Bilingual literacy and how important it is to Deaf individuals so I want us to use that as a backdrop for our devotional this time. Visit the Deaf Bible Society and spend some time reading the statistics that you see there. Does it surprise and sadden you that 98% of Deaf people are not Christians? One of the biggest factors is that the Bible has not been presented in their language. Yes, the New Testament at least is available in ASL, but what about all the other sign languages of the world? The Bible has not been translated into 95% of these and it is a big barrier. Right now we can do something important to help and that is pray. You will see on the website that you can text PRAY to 444999 to get a 14 day pray guide. I just did that and I want to encourage you to do that too. You can basically start each day of this module with your prayer time from this guide (yes, I know spring break is in the middle but you can sort that out). The email I received after texting, gave me links to the prayer guide in English or ASL Videos. I will go ahead and put the PDF that I received in the module sequence and embed the first video here, but it would be better if you actually text the # and get the info sent to you directly so you will get more prayer calendars in the future too.
