Majors & Minors

YOUR ACADEMIC JOURNEY Majors & Minors

majors-minors.jpg
Each Baylor college and school features an array of specific academic programs as well as unique degree types. You can choose from more than 120 bachelor degree programs in fields as varied as business, education, nursing, music and computer science. All degrees require a minimum of 124 credit hours, though some programs require more than the minimum.

Specific degree requirements for each academic unit are listed in the Undergraduate Academic Catalog, based on the year you enter Baylor. You can find in-depth information about each college and school, majors and minors, and much more.

Majors

You must select at least one major in order to graduate. You may also declare a second major, although there are things to consider if you explore that option. A double major is a second major within the same degree program. You can declare a double major as long as the requirements for each major are distinct and do not overlap. If you select a major outside the degree program of your first major, you would declare a secondary major. Be sure to speak with your advisor about the best combination of programs for you.

Minors

A minor consists of a minimum of 18 credit hours and may be added to any degree plan to complement a major, but usually it is not required. A minor may be housed in a different school or college than your major field, and it provides a great way for you to study an additional area of interest.
