Baylor has called Waco home for more than 100 years, and you are encouraged to get to know your new city. Go Gold! allows you to discover Waco through cultural, social and recreational opportunities and programs. Discounts, giveaways and more allow students to engage with Baylor’s hometown.
One of the largest community service projects on an American college campus, Steppin’ Out is a great opportunity for all Baylor students to practice leadership through direct service in the Waco community. Twice a year, thousands of Bears give back to our neighbors who support Baylor in countless ways. This nationally recognized, campus-wide service event is organized, planned and run by a student planning committee.
Baylor offers a wealth of opportunities to study abroad, whether as part of a group of other Baylor students or on your own through an exchange or affiliate program. You can plan to study abroad during a semester, over the summer or for a full year. We encourage students to study abroad at least once — if not more than once — during their time at Baylor. Program destinations span the globe, including Ireland, Haiti, Australia, Kenya, Italy, Zambia, Greece, Malaysia, London, Uganda and many more.
Urban Missions partners with Waco organizations and churches to provide opportunities for students to engage in the greater Waco community through relationship building and service.
Youth Ministry Teams help students experience spiritual formation through hands-on ministry engagement and exposure to varied theological perspectives and spiritual disciplines. The teams are student-led groups of undergrads who provide a variety of resources for churches while seeking practical youth ministry experience. Each team is composed of 15 to 20 students gifted in guiding small groups, speaking/preaching, organizing recreation and leading worship.
